LOCAL, TURF GOSSIP. Secretary Nathanson has been advised that C. R. Ellisons crack two-year-old colt Skilful has been shipped west and will arrive at Harlem today. Pat Donnes good colt Early would have been a starter in the Junior Stakes yesterday but for having struck himself while in preparation for the event. Lass of Langden was claimed out of the second race by G. H. Shearer for ,160. Jockey T. Dean on Bad News was fined 5 by Starter Dwyer for breaking through the barrier with his mount in tho stake race. Entries to two of the races to be run at Hawthorne Monday, the opening day of the fall meeting, close today, and clerks will be at both of the local tracks in order to receive them. The two in question are the steeplechase handicap for three-year-olds and upward over the short course, and the free handicap for horses of the same age at one mile. Coupon books are now ready for badge holders.
