Vestry showed much speed but had to be driven out to the limit to stall off Naulahkas bid at the finish. The latter would probably have won had not Mathews lost control of his whip in the closing strides. She finished strongly. Maxette tired slightly in the last sixteenth. Siege came with a rush at the end after making up much ground and would have been third in another stride or two. Musical Slipper was all tangled up at the start and had little chance when she got clear sailing. Maolis showed early speed. Money Muss ran to his best form, and, although he ran wide when turning for homo, was so much the best that he would not be denied. LEtrenne ran well and finished resolutely. Lass of Langden made up ground in the last quarter and finished stoutly. Carl Kahler ran a dull race and can do much better. The race was strictly between the first four. Emma R. pulled up very lame. Won easily; second driving to the limit. Sidney C. Love moved up fast in the last eighth and finished strongly. Gregor K. stood a long stretch drive and finished resolutely. The Picket was probably the best. He began slowly and appeared to have little chance in the first half, but made up ground fast next to the inside rail in the last quarter and although pinched in next to the rail several times finished with great speed. Stem Winder tired palpably in the last fifty yards. McGee ran a sparkliug race making up much ground in the final quarter. Bad News was thoroughly beaten when turning for home. The latter closed up fast in the final eighth, but tired slightly in the closing strides. Nitrate finished fast next to the inside rail. Dr. Stephens was well beaten when entering the last quarter. Red Tip saved round by being taken next to the inside rail when turning for home. Jack Demund ran a dull race, f lavensbury was never a serious contender.
