Tremarwas-quickest in motion at the start, showed early speed and ran apparently under restraint for the first half, was called on at the stretch bend, but failed unexpectedly to respond strongly and would have been beaten in another stride. Easy Street raced in a contending position for the first five-eighths and only weakened in the last sixteenth. Himtirie was practically left at the post, ran a grand race and would have been a keen contender with an even start.
