LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Lyman Davis who was formerly connected with the Newport and Latonia tracks has been appointed assistant Secretary of the Worth Jockey Club. Prince Blazes, which finished third in the second race, was purchased before the racing at auction by Durnell and Hertz for 50. Joe Buckley, the winner of the third race, was bid up and secured for ,800 by A. D. Worley, an advance of 00 over his entered price. S. C. Hildreth sold Hermencia yesterday to W Cahill for the reported price of ,000. H. E. Rowell will ship eleven horses next Monday to California to be raced at the itracks there this winter. Jockey Tully, who was suspended in a steeplechase for carrying Bristol out of. the course, was reinstated yesterday. W. Burke and Co., who started Alfred C. in the second race, put in a claim for Moabina after the race, securing her for 97.50. Starter Holtman will leave for West Baden Monday for a rest until the opening of Latonia.
