Santa Ventura went to the front quickly, showed the most speed, stayed well and won eased up. Hengist was lucky and ran to the mark. Fickle Saint finished strongly, but got off badly and was in close quarters all the way. Miss Mae Day, taken wide all the way and cut off twice, finished fast. Russellton ran a tremendous race from where he got off. He will do presently. Loca ran a fairly good race. Parnassus was cut off at the start. Brannigan ran well to the stretch. Kilimand-scharo was beautifully ridden, made up much ground, saved all possible on the turns and won eased up. Fon Spray was w :ef ully handled, ran unassisted all the way, finished fast and was probably best. Palmetto showed speed, but tired in the run home. Jake Weber was off poorly, but Waldo rated him carefully, saved ground on the turn, came fast through the stretch and won eased up. The race was in marked contrast to his last performance where L. Jackson rode him and got him beaten twenty lengths by The Boer. The Messenger ran a good race. Onanetta stood still for twenty-two minutes while the other horeea were used up in the breakaways, then got off running in front, lasted well and finished fast. Fourleaf C. was badly ridden and takn the long way and will probably show improvement similar to that of Jake Weber The Boer ran a bad race. Nettie Regent was inadequately handled. Won handily; second easily. Fore and Aft showed fine speed and was well rated in front, but was doing his best to stall off Handspinner Ht the end. Handspinner went well, but little Gilmore tired in the stretch run and let the colt sprawl in the last eighth, when he was wearing the winner down. With a strong ride Handspinner would probably havfl won. Sailors Dream ran a fair race. Pickles ran a bad race and can do much bettor. No Bhow betting. Captain Gaston was all but left at the post, made up twenty lengths in the last half and was running past horses at the end. If You Dare was poorly ridden, lost ground at the three-eighths post and then came again. Nickey D. ran a dull race.
