NOTES OP THE XORF. Lucien Appleby has leased Silver Brook, his famous stock farm at Shrewsbury, N. J., to Charles F. Hill. Mr. Hill will move there next weok. He has leased the farm for three years. Silver Brook is said to bo the most complete stock farm in tho country. Hill was tho trainer of Clarence H. Mackays race horses until the death of John W. Mackay caused his son to give up tho turf. Dick Welles, tho crack Western two-year-old old, which received an injury in his work a few days ago, seems to have recovered and is going strong and well again. Ho was on tho track at Morris Park Wednesday morning with others of tho Respess string and showed no signs of his rocent trouble. Christopher J. Fitzgerald is on tho rapid road to recovery from his recent illness. Ho has been out doors for tho past week and has gone to London, Ontario, for several weeks. Mr. Fitzgerald will resume his usual winter engagement as starter at New Orleans on Thanksgiving Day.
