Ladas ran to his best form, stood a drive gamely and just lasted long enough to stall off Lynchs rush. Lynch was badly handled, but finished fast and would have won in another stride. Tenny Belle showed speed but tired in the deciding drive. Herodes ran a fine race for him. Suave showed a flash of speed, but tired. Loca was poorly ridden. Scratched 35699 Mayor Johnson, 102. Lady Strathmore was beautifully rated behind the pacemaker. Dale made his move at the stretch entry and the maro respoded gamely. When she caught Jack Demund, Steele placed his horse in front of her and bore her out all through the stretch, but Dale skillfully overcame the interference and won. Jack Demund set a roaring pace, and, although he tired in the final quarter, he finished:gan:ely. Siddons closed up a lot of ground and was going strongly atthe end. Brutal rah well to the mile, but his light rider could not assist him at the end and allowed him to run out in the stretch. Pinochle showed speed and went to the mark.
