MEMPHIS TO INCREASE STAKES. Memphis, Tonn., November 14. At a meeting of tho executive committee of the tho New Memphis Jockey Club held here today Secretary M. N. Mac-farlan was authorized to arrange the future program for the next spring meeting at Montgomery Park, so that nothing less than $.400 purses will be offered for horses racing here. It was also practic ally decided to increase the amount of added money to a majority of the important stake events, if favorable dates are allotted for the 190J meeting by tho Western Jockey Club at the December meeting. Cross-country racing will be made a strong feature of the annual meetings here. The stables are rapidly filling up with thoroughbreds being retired for the winter months. The stables of G. C. Bennett, J. W. Schorr, M. H. Tich-enor and Co., and many others have arrived, and the capacity of the track will be taxed by the time the cold months roll around. A part of the Schorr, Bennett and Tichenor strings are being prepared for the New Orleans meeting. They will be shipped to the Crescent City in a few days.
