The latter ran well on his courage, but could not get up. Dandle Belle showed speed and finished stroDgly. Basuto received a poor start and made up a lot of ground, was closing up at the end and is worth remembering when with a good rider. Cornwall was handled to poor advantage. Redfern avoided the early pace and closed up with a rush in the stretch, came around the field and was tiring at the end, just lasting under a strong finish. Grail would have won if Lyne had made the run in time. She finished strongly and was in front a stride beyond the finish. Black Dick is rounding to, made up ground and outgamod Flara at the end. The latter found the route too far, but will win in poorer company. Barbara Fritchie waB poorly handled and failed to display her usual speed. Her race should be overlooked. Emshee is in rare form, was under restraint in the first part of the race and had to be hustled to get to the front, but . won with something in reserve. Extinguisher ran a fine race, but was used up in forcing the pace and tired toward the end. Blackstock, off poorly, finished very strongly and would have been second in a couple more strideB. He is fresh and good and improves with each race. Huntressa hardly ran her race. Setauket, plainly short, ran under restraint for nearly six furlongs when Rice went from a pull to a hard drive.
