HOUSES AT CUMBEKI.AND PARK. J Nashville, Tenn., November 22. The Tennessee Breeders Association is making many improvements in its racing plant at Cumberland Park. Five new, roomy barns are in course of construction, which, when finished, will be occupied by F. Cook, P. Gorman, Turney Bros, and Capt. A. C. Franklin. Nashville is considered the best wintering spot in the country. With its good barns, fresh spriDg water, covered winter training track,- comfortable cabins, there is no wonder that all the stabling has been spoken for for the coming winter. So great has been the demand for stabling, the management is building additional stables, and besides the barns already nearing completion material for two additional barns of thirty and forty stalls each were ordered today. Those already in winter quarters at Cumberland Park are the Drake stable, G. Hendrie, J. Walters, A. Franklin, J. G. Greenei J. Cage, J. Gardner, H. Gerhardy, W. W. Darden, J. M. Johnson, W. Gerst, S. E. Parmer, J. Beaver, Fizer and Co., B. Mannion, M. Redmond, S. P. Harlan, H. I. Marshall and L. G. Tate. Among those who have already engaged stable room and will ship to Nashville at the close of the Washington, Lakeside and Latonia meetings are Turney Bros., J. Morris, P. Gorman, F. Cook, T. P. Hayes, W. Hayes, R. F. Meyers, F. Lightfoot, J. Ferris, F. Bruhns and H. Franklin. Fully 500 head will winter at Nashville. The Tennessee Breeders Associations meetings have been entirely too short. At Nashville only twenty-one days of racing have been had in three years. The city of Nashville will liberally patronize a two weeks meeting, and this time will be asked for at the next meeting of the Western Jdekey Club. With a plant that cost over 25,000, and one of the best equipped in the country, it is impossible to make money with a meeting of six or eight days. Nashville should have at least two weeks in the spring and the same number in the fall. , The management-will add at least ,000 to their Derby of next year, and purees will range from 00 to 00; all stakes will be added money events, the program will call for something over ,500 per day. Stakes will be announced in Daily Racing Foem after the meeting of the Western Jockey Club, the first Monday in December.
