GOSSIP OF THE TURF. If the present meeting at the Fair Grounds, New Orleans, La., comes up to the expectations of the management, and there is every reason to believe that it will, it is likely that another track will be purchased by the Crescont City Jockey Club, says the New Orleans Picayune. Negotiations have been entered into between the Buffalo Racing Association and President Bush, looking toward the purchase of the Kenilworth Park track at Buffalo, N. Y. The plant at Konil worth Park it one of the best in tho country, and with proper management it looks as if racing there would pay. Last fall, under very adverse conditions, the meeting, all things considered, was a good one, although it was not a success financially. It opened up with a small attendance, but as tho meeting progressed tho crowds kept increasing. On a couple of days there were fully 7,000 people pretent. Betting was good, and the game kept growing in favor. All this improvement came under very lax management, too. With President Bush and Secretary Clark at the head of affairs, Kenilworth Park would have a very bright future. It is to be hoped, for tho good of racing around Buffalo, that the negotiations now pending will be carried out and that the transfer will be made. J . Wambgans of Algiers, who recently fell into a small fortune, has decided to become a horse owner and follow tho racing game. He intends to purchase several horses and recently bought, at New Orleans, the two-year-old colt Handspinner from "Doc" Streett for ,500. Handspinner started his racing career in tho colors of James R. Keeno and was turned over to Streett to race in tho west. Streett took him to St. Louis and won several races with l.im before going to New Orleans. This horse is more than likely to develop into a good class three-year-old and should make a good nucleue from which to build up a good stable. J. Coombs will train him as well as tho others which Mr. Wambgans will purchase.
