GOSSIP OF THE TURF. Captain W.H. May says that his son, "Bub" May, who is in charge of their racing stable now quartered at the Memphis track, writes him that the three-year-old filly, Louise Collier, one of last years winners, is in first-class condition, and that he is confident of her ability to capture first money in tho Tennessee Oaks. This stable will go east after the Memphis meeting. O. H. Chenault, of Spendthrift Stud, last Friday bought from W. H. McGuigan, better known as "Umbrella Bill," the chestnut stallion Boanerges, by Spendthrift Llandrinio, she by Arrow. The price paid is in the neighborhood of 00. The stallion is now at the place of B. F. Hume, and he will bo moved to his new home at once. His dam is also the dam of the 0,000 Mexican. Ashland Stud, Lexington, Ky., owned by Thomas McDowell, has had the misfortune to lose one of its most promising young brood mares, Kitty Clive. She died last Friday. She was by Macduff Peg Woffington, and on her two-year-old form was considered ajhigh-class animal.
