Sleeping Child forced the pace to the stretch and held on unexpectedly well, showing decided improvement Jim Gore II. was crowded on the stretch turn, losing ground and was coming on fast at the end. Bernota went unexpectedly well on a fast track, but is best in muddy going. Windward is in good form and was closing up fast in the stretch. Nigrette forced the pace to the stretch, where sho tired, and the winrcr easily ran past her. 8t. Sever, always prominent and lucky, stood a long 6tretch drivo gamely. Hesper was seriously interfered with at the start, closed the early gap and was then repeatedly crowded on the far turn, then came on the extreme outside and swerved badly at the end under Dalys poor efforts. The Major beat the barrier, but this advantage counted little, he baing crowded back early and finally worked a very rough last half and, catching Jockey Club tiring and swerving, won out in the last stride. Jockey Club got awav poorly and displayed amazing speed in taking tbo lead at the half and appoared a sure winner, butsulked and swerved into the rail in the last sixteenth, thon came again in the last few strides. Ball Room Belle failed to stay and was a lucky third. Epicure received a bad start and was roughly used, but came like a flash in the final sixteenth, ran a cracking good race and is evidently far abovo the average. Andrew Ring was bumped back early.
