NOTES OF THE TURF. J. E. R., St. Louis. The paroloe. on Sheriff Bell and Josette was a loser. A. S., Chicago. The horses composing the Strode entry were bet on Bingly for place at the track. Correct place odds coupled would bo 3 to 5. At New Orleans yesterday Barkelmore was sold to J. W. Price for ,500 after the first race, and E. Trotter claimed Floyd K. for ,525 and sold him to S. C Hildreth for ,725. P. J. K., Chicago. Backers of Josette singly lost. She and St. Tammany wore coupled in tho entries and backers were bound to take notice of this and back the entry, if they wished to have the benefit of the speed of both horses.
