Hudson was lucky at the start and carefully reserved to the stretch where he unexpectedly made good when called on at the end. Judge Voorhees beat the barrier and forced the pace throughout, but swerved into the rail in the last furlong where the going was deep and it anchored him. Alta G. sustained her speed in improved fashion. Tommy Knight got away badly and closed a gap. Figardon ran fairly well. Donami got away badly and is out of place in sprints. The slow pace helped him and under a vigorous ride he won out in the final stretch sprint. Ada N. worked a rough journey without any assistance from her rider and finished like a whirlwind and was evidently best today. Illowaho traversed the deep going for the entire journey and was always a prominent contender. Sleeping Child forced the pace for seven furlongs and the race should improve him. Antolee ran a good race. Ignacio favors a longer distance and ran as if short, being in front when a furlong out, but tiring at the end. Overweights Ada N., 1 pound. Golden Light, show, 2 to 5. Modicum was lucky at the start and reserved to the stretch turn where; he saved ground, finishing out the last quarter fast. Somenos, away poorly, made up ground rapidly and swung wide into the stretch with a slight lead and stuck to his work gamely. Salver closed a gap and came fast at the end in the deep going. Pickaway failed to stay. Adirondack is improving and worth remembering. Anvil ran a bad race. Cljvoso showed speed but is a non-stayer, except perhaps in mud. Toledo set the pace throughout, always held his field safe and won going away fast after withstanding Celebrants strong challenge in the stretch. The latter, lucky and waited with in the first half, moved up fast on the stretch turn, but fell away at the end. Rowena got away slowly and fell out of contention, was then excessively used on the last turn to get up. went hopelessly wide and afterwards closed up like a whirlwind under a bad looking ride. Dr. Rowell was prominent early and held on well. General Roberts made a promising debut. Rose Farr ran like a non-stayer. Autolight showed, his true form on which he outclassed his field. He raced into prominence at the start and indulged the pacemaker to the stretch turn where he forged to the front on the inside, taking a comfortable lead in the stretch and easily came away from Hortons usual determined challenge at the end. The latter trailed for six furlongs, moving up then like a flash and was easily second best. The Fretter, steadily improving and skillfully ridden, went well throughout. Dainty was a good horse poorly handled. Position came with his usual stretch sprint after trailing. Grail went well throughout, but cannot beat this kind on a good track. Bill Massie went a fast six furlongs. Leader has trained off and retired after the first half. Autolight, show, 8 to 5. Horton, show, 4 to 5. The Fretter, show, 6 to 5 The entrv show, 3 to 5. Sunello made the running at a ridiculously slow pace and that won for him, for with plenty in reserve he outsprinted the others in the final drive, but was tiring badly at the end Tufts was choked back in the first part of the race, ran throughout in the deep going and had no chance with the ride. Baffled also trailed far out of it for the first mile finishing with a belated rush. Tulare quit at the end. Scratched 37962 Goldone, 104. No. show betting on first three. Jockey Club, away slowly raced into the lead in the first quarter, ran a cracking good race and held on gamely in a long stretch drive. Shellmount closed up with a rush at the end and ran the best race of his career Mexicana made the early running and was taken into the deep going throughout but seemed sure of third place when a furlong out.
