LAKESIDE. Tbirty-one thousand six hundred dollars will be distributed by the Lakeside Jockey Club during the twelve days meeting extending from April 15 to April 28, inclusive. For two weeks Secretary Nathanson has been refusing applications for stable room, the available stalls on the grounds and on the sites of the old Forsythe and Sheffield tracks having been assigned. Messages have been sent to the various racing centers notifying horsemen not to ship to Lakeside, as they could not be accommodated, and a large proportion of the applicants for room are horsemen whose strings the secretary would be glad to have at hand. Upward of 400 horses ready to race are in and adjacent to the racetrack and almost daily others are arriving for which stable room has been reserved. Starter Dwyer is at Hot Springs, and yesterday sent word that no two-year-old should be allowed to start that had not been properly schooled at the starting gate. Accordingly his assistant, Maurice McKnight, will be at the track each da.y for the purpose of giving the youngsters their lessons in breaking away from the barrier. Dwyer will remain at the Springs until April 14, the day preceding the opening of racing here. The track has been thoroughly worked by Superintendent Welles and the horses at the grounds are receiving their "preps" upon it each day. A number of American Derby entries are among them. Twelve of these will be at the Lakeside meeting, the majority of which are now here. The twelve are Philo, Lord Touchwood, Gregor K., Ahola, Beaugard, Discharged, Glendin, Will Sherry, Triad, Malory, Dan McKenna and Jack Orr.
