Start good. Won driving; second the same. Ben Howard showed plentiful speed and rushed to the front in the first quarter, forced the pace all the way and held his own at the end under a good strong finish. Clorita would have won with capable handling, was the best and closed up fast and gamely in the stretch. Tribes Hill ran a good race and finished fast. So did St. Barnaby, which is rounding to and worth remembering. Andrattus quit when hard pressed. Captain R. began slowly. Roue does not seem able to stay. Kilogram is evidently not in form. Scratched— 36105 Wax Candle, 91. Overweights — Captain R., 4 pounds. Ben Howard, show, 6 to 5. Clorita, show, 3 to 5. Tribes Hill, show, evens. Rosetint was easily the best, wore Lady Lake down on the turn and was under restraint at the end. Lady Lake received the benefit of a flying start and was tiring badly at the end. Gloriosa got off poorly. Wilhelmina ran a fair race and will be worth remembering in slower company. I Scratched— 35004 Helen C. S., 106. Lady Lake, show, out. Gloriosa, show, out. Oclawaha showed the most speed and stayed much better than usual, but was tiring at the end and only lasted but through Martins strong finish. Animosity ran a good race and would have won with riders reversed. Dark Planet ran well, but tired in the final drive. Louise Elston is improving and was in close quarters all the way. Brisk was weakly handled. Flara closed up ground steadily. J. H. Sloan pulled up lame. Courtenay was ■crowded back at the start. Griffiths was eased up at the end. It was only a romp for the winner. She displayed great speed and was under restraint at the end. Petunia stood a long drive gamely and outlasted Mordella. The latters race was a good one as she was off none too well and was. taken up fast, leaving her little to finish with. M. Theo made up some ground. Silver Dream got off poorly. The Lady Ro-hesla and Cyprlenne bumped one another on the first turn and were knocked out of it. Miss Eugenie displayed a lot of, speed and will be worth remembering. She was eased up at the • end. Andy Williams has rounded to quickly. Off well in motion he wore Flying Buttress down on the stretch turn and had something in reserve at the end. Hunter Raine closed up fast in the stretch and got up in the last two strides. Flying Buttress ran a good race and held on gamely. Alan would have been third but for being pinched out near the end. Winner — B. c, by The Sailor Prince — Seabird trained by T. Welch. Went to post at 4:50. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second, easily. Sailor Knot is a good game youngster. Beginning slowly he made up ground and was lucky to get through on the turn, stood a hard drive gamely, and just lasted long enough through Martins strong finish. Extralaw ran a good race and should have won, improves with each race and is probably a better colt than he has shown. Magic Flute, was crowded on the turn and finished gamely. Amelia Richardson found the route too far after displaying a lot of speed and should improve. Evelyn Arnold was outrun in the first part of the race, but held on well at the end.
