Mary Glenn was much the best, was well in hand for the first half, moved up when rounding the turn into the homestretch and came away with a rush in the last sixteenth. Dieterle let go her head at the end and she finished on her own courage. Dolly Gray was used too much in chasing Indian Child and tired when it came to a drive. John Coulter finished going fast. Indian Child broke running. So did Suburban Queen. They both showed speed, but tired. Scratched— 38597 Anglesea, 107; 3S135 Vogue, 103; 38536 Velasquez, 102; 3853G Sister Sarah, 102. Winner — Ch. b, by Knight of Ellerslie — Bracket trained by W. McDaniel. Went to post at 2:57. At post 6 minutes. Start bad. Won driving; second the same. Brancas wore Easter Walters down in the run around the far turn and had to stand a long hard drive to stall off Bradley Bill. The latter got away all tangled up, made up a lot of ground and was carried wide at the turn into the homestretch, then came on and finished fast and gamely. Talhouet closed a big gap, but was in a pocket in the last sixteenth and would have won but for interference. This is a good colt. Easter Walters was off flying. Blue Pennant reared when the barrier went up and so did Foncasta. They were very green at the post. Overweights — Easter Walters, 2 pounds; Blue Pennant, 1. Gerst entry, show, 2 to 5. Whiskey King delayed the start, but got off flying and beat the barrier a couple of lengths, showed tremendous speed and is a great sprinter. Jack Rattlin ran to his best form, but the start killed his chances. Monsieur Beaucaire finished fast and wore Maiden down in the stretch run. The latter tired and Mclnerny did not persevere with him at the end. Overweights — Monsieur Beaucaire, 1 pound; Maiden, 3; Lem Reed, 3. Whiskey King, show, out. Jack Rattlin, show, out. Wire In was off well in motion, raced Bummer II. to exhaustion in going to the homestretch turn and had enough left to stall off Brulares challenge at the end. Booker was overconfident and waited too long with Brulare. She came with a rush when called on and was wearing the winner down at the end. Reservation closed a big gap and finished with a rush. Barca ran poorly. Bummer II. quit badly. Overweights — Wire In, 5 pounds. Wire In, show, evens. Brulare, show, out. Reservation, show, 7 to 10. Barca, show, out. FIFTH RACE— 1 Mile. Dandie Belle had to go all around her field to get up and closed a big gap, but tired when it came to a hard drive. Do Madge had a rough trip, was cut off several times and was sore when going to the post, but ran well. Sandwich was off running and showed early speed, but quit after going five furlong.
