Paul Whaley showed keen speed throughout and responded gamely when the pinch came. Thane was pocketed badly at the last eighth post, but came with a rush when he got clear sailing. Rolling Boer finished going fast after making up ground in the last quarter. Owenton faltered when a furlong out. He was under a hard drive all through the stretch.
