Alta G. was lucky at the start, practically forced the pace throughout and drew clear in the stretch with ease, but wa£ mildly driving at the end. Impetuous, away poorly, made up much ground, finishing with a rush. Modicum held on gamely and was a prominent contender from the start. Blue Miracle, nearly left, closed a big gap. Matin Bell was excessively used from the start and tired m the last sixteenth after appearing a sure winner. Miss Culver closed an immense gap from a bad start. Cherries, but for being carried hopelessly wide on the stretch turn, would have been third. Halmetta was unlucky. Carilee and Nullah failed to stay. J Ohio Girl was short. Sad Sam beat the barrier and made the most of his advantage, but was tiring rapidly at the end. Jockey Club closed a tremendous gap. Peter J. got away badly and quit in the stretch.
