All the horses were caught in the barrier at the start except Lynch, Tenny Belle and Zirl. Lynch ran well and finished fast and was best the way the race was run. Tenny Belle .showed speed throughout, but swerved badly in the last sixteenth. Death broke at least eight lengths behind the leaders and made up much ground. Zirl had no mishaps and quit badly. Gus Heidorn was off well, was a sharp contender throughout and just lasted long enough to win. Ascot began slowly, but closed a lot of ground in the last quarter and would have won in another stride. Matt Wadleigh ran well, but tired in the closing strides. Bandillo went well to the stretch and was evidently short. Rowland M. can do better. Scratched — 38 7 942Ora McKinney, 100. Father Wentker ran a good race, but owed his victory to a perfect ride. Boland got the next three in holes at various parts of the race and cut them off sharply. Pourquoi Pas was cut off soon after the start, but made up ground and ran a good race. Maltster was pinched in next to the rail in the stretch and almost thrown down. Kaffir was going fast when Boland cut him off and forced him to fall back. Overweights — Father Wentker, 2 pounds. Father Wentker, show, 1 to 4. Pourquoi Pas, show, 1 to 2. Maltster, show, 3 to 10. Orient broke slowly, but developed amazing speed in a hurry, wore Jehane down in the stretch run and was easing up at the end. She looks, ran and acted like a good filly and was very badly ridden. Jehane, a good looker, ran to the mark, but tired in the stretch run. Maiwells, big, green and with bucked shins and sore pasterns, ran a fine race Selected ran a good race.
