LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. M. H. Tichenor was among the visitors at "Worth yesterday, and stated that his recent Derby purchase, Early, would be left in the care of P. Dunne, who will fit him for all the principal events that he is engaged in, including the American Derby. The Admiral Stakes, to be decided today, brings together a smart field of youngsters. Several of them will make their debut as racers, while others have performed creditably on the southern courses. Among the latter are Dick Bernard, recently purchased by E. E. Smathers and Manshak, a winner at NewxOrleans. Among the new ones that have never started, F. T. Woods Patsy Brown is reported to be a wonder. Gilfain, which finished third to Au Revoir and Dan McKenna, ran a high class race considering it was his first start in a long time. At the stretch head it appeared as though he would be an easy winner, but lack of condition told at the end and Au Revoir and Dan McKenna passed him in turn. L. A. Jackson arrived yesterday from California and will do the light weight riding for the J. Coffey stable. J. C. Milams two-year-old filly Miss Cal-lam, by Faverdale — Ethelinda, which ran some creditable races at Lakeside this spring, died yesterday from lung fever. S. G. Morton has purchased from R. Bradley the two-year-old W. M. Perrish. The Don, S. S. Tracey and Co.s three-year-old, is reported to be on the ailing list and will not be raced again for some time. P. J. Miles wired Secretary Jasper from Louisville, Ky., to reserve stable room for his horses, which will arrive at Worth in a few days.
