Winner— Ch. c, by Guido — Sound trained by W. Cole. Went to post at 3:06. At post 2 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second easily. Imboden was held away from the early fast pace, came fast around the turn and swerved badly in the stretch, but got a good path next to the rail and won going away. He is a good colt in soft going. Bill Knight was much used in pacemaking and Hall took him on a strip of heavy going in the middle of the stretch. He hung on gamely and was probably best. Matt Wadleigh ran a game race and finished well. Nannie Hodge was well ridden and kept in the best going, but tired badly. Imboden, show, 1 to 2. Bill Knight, show, out. Matt Wadleigh, show, 7 to 5. Pierce J. was best in the going, received a good ride and won as his rider pleased. Joe -Goss fullv ran his race under a very weak ride. Dr. Kammerer lost second place by being " taken in the heavv going in the stretch. Reducer got away poorly and had the worst of the going, but closed up fast in the stretch after being kept under keen pressure all the way. ■Cadet, held in the deep going, closed up some ground in the stretch, but fell away again at the end. Orpheum ran an impressive race under weak handling. Scratched— 39339 Zirl, 102; 39307 Duke Dashaway, 98. Pierce J., show, 6 to 5. Joe Goss, show, 6 to 5. Erema broke well in her stride, outsprinted Scorpio to the turn, was taken over the best soing in the stretch and just lasted long enough to win under a good ride. Scorpio lost five lengths by being forced to run through the deep going around the turn, then closed up resolutely in the stretch, but tired at the end. Santa Ventura got away badly and was pocketed twice and finally had to run around her field. Sylvia Talbot ran well to the sixteenth post and was then eased up. Frank Bell tired in the stretch. J. Sidney Walker was unable to negotiate the going and he is hardly at his best. Scratched— 39081 Two Lick, 102. Overweights— Stand Pat, 2 pounds. Entry, show, 2 to 5. Scorpio, show, evens. Dr. Scharff, well handled, ran well and finished gamely under strong pressure throughout. Maghoni began slowly and was taken around the field and, finishing fast, was probably best, but Shea clearly outrode Wilson. Dotty Shute was pulled up at the start and poorly ridden at the finish. Russellton was favored by the going and ran a good race under a careful ride. . Dr. Carrick ran well, but tired under pressure in the stretch. Chandoo got away badly and was scant of speed.
