Fleuron had to go all around her field to get up, came wide at the turn into the homestretch, finished fast and outgamed Almanzo at the end. The latter ran well, but was tiring and just managed to last long enough to stall off Goo Goo. Bliss was of little help to Goo Goo and she would have won with a good rider up. Harlem Lane showed much early speed, but quit as usual in the stretch run. Went to post at 3:07. At post 4 minutes. Start good. Won driving; second the same. Mandamus was crowded back while rounding the first turn, but wore the leaders down on the backstretch, drew clear and finished going fast, but was under a drive at the end to stall off Welsh Girl. The latter came wide at the turn into the backstretch, but made up ground and was wearing the winner down at the end. Wall About was much used in chasing Little Duchess II. and saved ground all the way, but tired when called on. Choice, pulled up lame. Little Duchess IL quit badly. Dorice was at home in the going, opened up a winning lead while rounding the far turn and made a show of her field. San Marino showed early speed, but tired when it came to a drive. Princess Lucille finished fast and would have been second in two more strides. Throw out Silver Thistles race. She was messed about in the first quarter and came wide at the turn into the homestretch, carrying Good Cheer out with her. The latter showed a rare turn of speed in the first quarter and then tired. Romanelli rated him along for the first six furlongs, then came fast and caught the leaders tiring in the stretch and was going away at the end. Fonsoluca closed a big gap while rounding the far turn, but tired when the final drive came. Jack Rattlin and Silk Cord were much used in setting the pace and the former stayed best. Beauchamp avoided the early fast pace, came through with him next to the inside rail at the turn into the homestretch and outrode Bonner on Walter Duffy when it came to the deciding drive. Bonner turned Walter Duffys head loose at the sixteenth post when he drew his whip and allowed the colt to swerve across to the outside rail and this beat him. St. Paris is a slow beginner, but closed a big gap and finished resolutely. EI Donoso dropped out of it in the stretch run and Crowhurst put up a weak finish. Scratched — 39175Mizzen Mast, 105. Binehelio finished well and was easily the best of the others. Tom Hall outgamed Senor in a short stretch drive. The latter was made too much use of in the first part of the race and tired badlv.
