LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Judge Bryan and his associates handed down the following ruling after the races yesterday: "After a thorough investigation of the running of Flying Torpedo we suspend indefinitely jockey Birkenruth, and order in future the entry of the horse Flying Torpedo be refused. The ruling in regard to the horse shall not apply to stake engagements already made." The above ruling bars the horse from starting on all tracks over which the Western Jockey Club has jurisdiction, excepting in stake races for which he was nominated before yesterdays decision. Safeguard, the winner of the second race yesterday, was again bid up by "Kansas" Price 00 over his entered price, and bought in by his owner with an advance bid of . Secretary Russwurm, of the Nashville Jockey Club, was among the visitors at the track yesterday and will remain in Chicago to witness the running of the Harlem National Handicap. Much rough riding and crowding while going around the turns was again in evidence yesterday. Judge Bryan has lately cautioned several jockeys, but it seems to Jiave had very little effect. Handsome Florry, which started in the Lassie Stakes, was crowded and nearly 1 - thrown down while rounding the first turn / and her chances of winning destroyed.
