Atlas broke running and assumed a long lead to the stretch, where Booker cut into the rail, looking for a path. He found the going heavier than he expected and the filly tired badly and was lucky to last long enough. Pinky B. made up a lot of ground, came In the best going and would have won in another stride. Enigma showed improvement and liked the mud. Collin George ran a good race in the heaviest going. Canossa was off last, made up ground quickly and then tired. Scratched— Short Stop, 96. Poseur, off well in her stride, picked the best going, showed great speed and was never in trouble. Big Ben was at his best in the soft track and ran a race worth remembering. Sister Lillian was pinched off at the start, ran around her horses and closed up much ground in the stretch and would have been a contender for first money with an even break. Poseur, show, 1 to 4. Venus Victrix, much the best, had the worst of the going and received some bumping on the first turn, but finally ran around the pacemaker in the stretch and won going away. Stand Pat labored in the heavy going on the inside on the backstretch, but came like a rocket when he struck the heavy going on the outside in the stretch. Scorpio got off running, was well ridden, had the best of going and was beaten by a better horse today at the weights. Santa Ventura ran her race. Light Opera finished well. Fon Spray tired from making the pace and laid over on Cast Iron when he challenged him at the sixteenth post and was disqualified. Cast Iron got away badly, closed up ground gradually and was the best horse at the finish. Pathos closed fast at the end. King Barleycorns entry will be refused hereafter on account of his unsatisfactory race today. Jockey D. Hall was fined 00 for reckless riding. Cast Iron, show, 1 to 2. Pathos, show, 2 to 5. Never Such, show, 4 to 5.
