Geortuga was off badly and weakly handled, but went around the field, came with a rush through the stretch and won in the last stride. Burlap ran an improved race for him, but tired near the end. Duke Dashaway ran a good race for him. Cardwellton went fairly well. Kittie Flyer showed speed to the stretch, where she quit badly. Scratched— 396533Ranchman, 109. Overweights — Sapere, 4 pounds. Deer Bird showed the most early speed and was well ridden, but was tiring at the end and barely lasted. Bessie B. ran to her best form. Sweet Myrtle tired and was poorly handled. Alamode was cut off soon after the start, closed up ground and was possibly best. Lady Ray is a slow beginner and shows best in a small field. ONeill showed his usual superior early speed, but was tiring and just lasted long enough to win under a vigorous finish. Kilo finished gamely and was rapidly overhauling the winner at the end. Santa Ventura showed the most early speed and was served by a mixup at the three-eighths, in which Kindred, Miss Mae Day and Elastic were all taken back sharply. Orleans was free of this interference and was second through good luck. Mabel Winn ran in improved form, but was off badly. Father Wentker ran his race. Elastic, Kindred and Miss Mae Day were all in contending positions at the time of the accident. Overweights — Father Wentker, 2 pounds; J. Sidney Walker, 3. Santa Ventura, show, 7 to 5. Deerhunter "was reserved to the stretch, where he came fast and finished with great game-ness. Helen Hay displayd marked improvement and was gaining on the winner with * every stride at the end. Kittie Cut a Dash about ran her race. Hemlock showed speed, but tired as though short. Feronia was a keen contender all the way. Marchioness got off badly. Deerhunter, show, 1 to 2. Eda Riley showed improvement, was well rated to the stretch and finished fast under .the whip. Lunar ran a good race and was well ridden, but tired in the stretch run and should have won. Watson was probably careless and did not see Eda Riley and knew that he had Kaffir beaten. The latter showed the most early speed. Cherished ran a good race and would have been second in a few more strides. W. B. Gates ran a bad race. Baronet ran poorly for his new owner. Eda Riley, show, 2 to 1. Lunar, show, out.
