Fade Meny, after displaying a lot of early speed, appeared to be beaten at the sixteenth post, but under careful handling lasted just long enough to win. Mrs. Grannan was weakly ridden and would have, in all probability, won with a stronger rider up. Mamselle had no mishaps and about ran her race. Plum Tart showed a flash of early speed, but tired fast when called on strongly. Animosity was away well at the start, but dropped out of contention quickly. Fade Meny, show, 3 to 1. Lyrist had the others beaten after running the first quarter. Flo Manola closed up a big gap from a poor beginning and finished going fast. Jessie J. showed early speed, but tired. Star Gazer was away well at the start, displayed the most early speed and, after a short brush with Firing Line in the stretch, came away as his rider pleased. Firing Line shows steady Improvement and ran a good race. Pluck was raced into exhaustion chasing the winner and weakened at the end. Malay finished strongly. Honolulu wheeled when the barrier went up. Binehelio had no apparent mishaps and ran a dull race. Scratched— Ben Clark, 111; 39470Marcellian, 95; 39875 Prodigality, 85. Star Gazer, show, 8 to 5. Model Monarch ran an impressive race and should soon win. Flora Bright was tiring at the end and barely saved third place. Kiwasa seems to have gone back and ran far below his best form.
