Wood quit and won as his rider pleased. Similar came away in the last eighth when St. Fairbury wore down Military in the stretch run. The latter was on the outside all the way and weakened when the pinch came. Jane Oaker showed improvement, as did Miss Chapman. The latter closed a big gap. St. Wood quit badly in the last sixteenth and Castro did not persevere with him. Nellie Forest had no mishaps. Moreta stumbled and threw her rider over her head.
