Minnie Johnson showed high speed, secured a winning lead on the first turn and was lucky to last long enough. Pinky B. finished fast and ran her usual consistent race. Regina D. began slowly, but went around her field, finished very fast and would have won in a few more strides. By Right tired. Caryota finished well. Overweights — Pinky B., 2 pounds. Grantor showed speed and improvement, was rated behind the leaders to the stretch, then came fast and finished gamely. Lelia Barr showed great improvement and ran a good race. Wellesley closed up fast from a bad beginning. The Fiddler pulled up lame after running a good race. Dr. Clark ran a dull race. Tenny Belle tired badly in the stretch after showing much early speed. A Lark showed much early speed, but is high in flesh and seemed all done at the three-eighths, but held on gamely and was badly ridden. Pirateer was taken on the inside in the heaviest going and would probably have won with luck breaking his way. Howling Dervish went the distance much better than was expected. Maud Gonne was well rated to the last sixteenth, but had to be driven out to beat Lady Strathmore at the end. The latter showed some improvement and had no mishaps. Light Opera was in the slowest going all the way and was pocketed in the stretch when he was running fast. Doeskin went well to the stretch. Star- Gazer was always outrun. Montana Peeress was under pressure all the way and rallied gamely !n the stretch when she seemed beaten. De Reszke ran to his mark. So did W. B. Gates. Sdgardo ran a bad race. Scratched — 40432 Tickful, 100. Overweights — Edgardo, 2 pounds. Orpheum, show, 1 to 3. Montana Peeress, show, 1 to 2. De Reszke, show, 1 to 2. Ed-rardo, show, 7 to 10.
