Winner— Ch. g, by Flying Dutchman — Cadma trained by J. Arthur. Went to post at 2:30. At post 4 minutes. Start fair. Won handily; second driving. Martius showed speed throughout, and, although closely pressed by Wm. Wright and Instructor for four furlongs, gradually drew away in the closing strides under a clever ride. Instructor stood a long stretch drive with gameness and outstayed Wm. Wright. The latter displayed speed throughout, but hung just a shade in the closing strides. Blackwolf finished going fast and would have been third in a few more strides. Lanark showed improvement and bears watching hereafter. Sir Andrew ran a fair race from where he got off. At post 1 minute. Start good. Won easily; second the same. Ceylon appeared to hold the race safe at all stages. He was well placed throughout and when called on just after taking the tenth jump, easily went to the front and won much as his rider pleased. Arius appeared to lose some ground after taking each later jump. He responded with wobbly gameness under punishment in the last eighth and finished reso-lutelv. His rider had* both feet out of stirrups Alma Girl ran at about an even rate of sped throughout. Nata ran well until just after taking the sixth jump, where he fell away beaten. He appeared to be a keen contender at the time. Spurs struck the inside post at the seventh jump throwing his rider. Slap Dash lost his rider over the last jump. Won easily; second driving. Warte Nicht moved up fast turning for home and easily wore down Ahola in the final sixteenth. The latter showed keen speed, but tired slightly when challenged by the winner. Toah swung a little wide turning for home and finished with a rush in the center of the track getting up in time under a hrfrd drive to nip Bragg on the post for third place. The latter showed much speed, but faltered badly in the last hundred yards. Lucien Appleby saved ground by going next to the inside rail, but sprawled badly in the last eighth under a hard drive. Schwalbe showed her usual turn of speed, but fell away beaten turning for home. Huzzah was never a serious contender. Warte Nicht, show, 2 to 1. Ahola, show, 2 to 1. Toah, show, 1 to 2. Bard of Avon was much the best. He displayed keen speed throughout, tiptoed the field all the wav and won as his rider pleased. Kilmorie made up ground fast in the last quarter and wore down Louisville in the closing strides. The latter tired perceptibly in the final sixteenth. She appeared to be nowhere near herself. Barrica ran a dull race and showed scant speed throughout. Anna Beall ran well for six furlongs. Zella Knight ran well for five and a half furlongs. Banana Cream showed some early speed. Trompeuse began slowly, but made up ground fast in the last quarter and easily passed into the lead in the last fifty yards going away fast passing over the line. Sweetie stood a long stretch drive with great gameness and outstayed My Gem in the closing strides. The latter showed much speed, but faltered noticeably in the last hundred yards struggle. Buccaneer was under a hard drive all through the last eighth and finished with great determination. Sol Smith showed much early speed. Blumenthal displayed a flash of earlv speed, but tired fast in the stretch run. Overweights — Buccaneer, 2 pounds; Father Tallent, 3; Blumenthal, 1. Trompeuse, show, 1 to 2. Sweetie, show. 2 to 5. Postmaster Wright moved up fast when turning for home, but just after straightening out he was joined by Galba, the two fighting it out hard all through the stretch. In the last hundred yards Postmaster Wright proved the gamer and, under a hard drive, gradually drew away. Galba showed improvement and undoubtedly ran the best race of his career. Sir Hugh caught Rossmond tiring in the final strides and got up in time to nip him on the post for third place. The latter showed much speed, but tired rapidly in the final eighth. Postmaster Wright, show, out. Galba, show, 1 to 3. Sir Hugh, show, out.
