LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. The following ruling was handed down by the judges after the closing race: Hawthorne, July 22, 1903. Secretary Chicago Jockey Club-Suspend indefinitely and refuse all priv-eleges to jockey Hayes for his handling of the horse Ceylon in the steeplechase of July 20. Frank J. Bryan, Judge. George Carroll, Steward. Sheridan Clark, Asso. Judge. Maxey Blumenthal, which was considered by his owner E. Corrigan a good three-year-old, fell dead on the track yesterday while being exercised. The exercise boy on him had just been given instructions to give the horse a fast gallop through the front stretch and breaking away near the quarter post the horse struck the post in passing, breaking his neck instantly. Rolling Boer bowed a tendon in his last start and was shipped yesterday to a farm near Louisville, Ky., to be turned out. Tom McGee, agent for E. Corrigan, stated yesterday that he had placed ,000 on LEt-renne for his employer and had placed for himself on Pride of Galore against 00. The story that Mr. Corrigan had bet on Pride of Galore is too silly to be taken seriously. LEtrenne was bred last spring to Cactus, an imported horse of Mr. Corrigans, and is at present in foal. The judges ordered Harvey Bennett scratched from the second race on account of lack of identification. Jockey- Coburn informed Judge Bryan yesterday that he had spoken to Judge Hamilton before the latters departure for his home in relation to being restored to favor. Mr. Hamilton told Coburn that he would restore him if Mr. Bennett, his contract employer, wished it. Should Mr. Bennett care to have him restored all that is necessary for him to do is to write to Mr% Hamilton.
