LOCAL TURF GOSSIP. Jockey Mclntyre, who rode Bondage in the fourth race, told Starter Dwyer after the finish, when questioned by the latter as to why he did not break with his field, that he had done so but the horse, after taking a few strides, began stopping and seemingly did not want to run. Shortly after McCafferty took the filly from him, Twyman purchased Ocean Dream. Yesterday Twyman is reported to have backed his new purchase for several thousand dollars and had to see Mary McCafferty beat her out by a short head. Jim Hale, after a number of attempts, finally managed to make good. His performance, however, was nothing sensational.
