Duke of Orleans was taken to the front at once and set the pace throughout, but was sharply challenged in the stretch and finally won by a narrow margin because best ridden. Tony Faust was unlucky in the early stages and, closing a big gap in the stretch, finished with a rush and barely failed to get up: Edwin T. Fryer was close up throughout and finished fast and gamely. Lady Allece finished with a rush. Sylvan Dixon tired. Ponemah showed early speed and mav improve. Edinborough showed the most earlv speed and was favored by the going, but tired under his heavy weight when put to a hard drive. Full Sway ran fairly well, but tired badly and swerved to the outside In the final sixteenth. Miss May Bowdlsli finished fast. Red Damsel did not run her race.
