ASCOT PARK NEWS AND GOSSIP. Los Angeles, Cal., January 10. Clear skies today brought out to Ascot Park the largest crowd of the week. The track was sloppy, however, and mudlarks held sway. J. J. McCatferty broke loose again In a bidding way. He tilted Harbor from 00 to ,200, but owner Williams retained the horse with the usual extra. Jockey lludliu was suspended ijor two weeks Tor allowing Marpessa to swerve all over the stretch. The lioy had offended iu the same maimer previously, hence the discipline. Jockey Miller will ride only for It. Angarola hereafter, as his employer, W. A. Stautim, does not wish him to risk being hurt on outside mounts. George Wheelock has lieeu backing his choices heavily from the ground in the last few days and is a good winner.
