PUBLIC RECOVERS SOME OF ITS LOSSES. Four Favorites Win at Crescent Park Radtkes Debut First Premium Wins the Feature. New Orleans, La., February 5. Four favorites won at the old track today, and the public partially retrieved the losses sustained last week. Jockey Itadtkc made his debut in the saddle at this track by winning with Jardiniere. The victory was not so much due to the good riding of the youngster as to the fact that the start was a bad one. Jardiniere had the better of it and her rider was fined" 3-by the starter for beating the barrier. After the race the crowd applauded Badtke liberally. He had two other mounts during the afternoon but the best he could do was to finish second on Brilliant in the long race. Radtkes stay here will be brief, as he goes shortly to Oaklawn, where some of the Keene horses will be raced. Other riders that have signified their intention of riding at the Vapor-City- track are Mountain and C. Bell. The feature offering for the day was a sprint race at six furlongs, in which a quartet of fair three-year-olds started. J. W. Fullers First Premium, favored by his light impost, took the purse in casy fashion from Lieber, which conceded the winner 18 pounds. W. S. Kansas Price, enlivened tilings considerably by engaging in a fist fight with a former employe during the races. Both men were taken in charge by the police and placed momentarily in the the lock-up at the track; they -were later liberated on their promise to appear at the" police station tomorrow. Jockey Anderson was lined 3 for disobedience at the post in the second race. Pick Watkins lias purchased from Albert Simons the fast two-year-old Baleshed, winner at City Park, and will race him at the old track. Alex Shields has purchased from A. L. Aste the three-year-old Winifred A., at privntc terms. Firing Line was secured by Mose Goldblatt. He will be shipped to Oaklawn and raced there. Jockey W. Hayes was injured while riding Investor in the opening race and had to cancel the remainder of his engagements for the afternoon.
