THE SUNS VIEW OF ASCOT TROUBLES. Much unfavorable criticism of the racing at Los Angeles has been hoard of late. The track is owned by. George Rose, the millionaire bookmaker, who is the ruling spirit in the betting ring. It is said that many queer looking events have been allowed to pass without an investigation and that the track as a result has become unpopular. When bookmakers own stock in race tracks, conduct stables, have jockeys under contract and also lay the prices there is little wonder that the public grows wary. This was the direct cause of the downfall of the Guttenberg track and because of such practices the Jockey Club of late has adopted a policy tended to keep the bookmaker in ills place.
