Modicum, after trailing within striking distance of the fast pace, finished with reserve speed in the stretch, caught Shady Lad tiring and won going away. The latter was injudiciously sent along in deep going on the iiiFlde to dispose of the non-staying pacemaker and tired right at the end, but was easily best. Haven Run. away badly, closed a big early gap and stood a long and game stretch drive. Tam OShanter set a fast pace, but failed to stay. Yo San. from a ilyiug start, forced a terrific pace for half the journey, after which she came away and won off cantering. Soundly, lightly weighted, displayed brilliant speed and improved stamina. Isolation got away slowly and was shut off on the inside, but ran well. Rustic Lady closed a big gap from a bad start. Rusticate finished well up and going fast. The Captain ran as if he outclassed the others, leisurely passed the leaders and won as his rider pleased. Major Tenny appeared to lack his usual early speed and. after seemingly beaten at the half, suddenly loomed up on the last turn, finishing an easy second. Standard, reserved in the early running, finished well under skillful handling. Langford James forced the early pace and stood the stretch drive gamely. Bird of Passage tired unaccountably in the last quarter. Dora I. displayed improved speed and stamina. Vigoroso finished with a belated rush. Ripper is in poor form. Bob Ragon ran lapped on the pacemaker for the first half, passed him and seemed the winner in the last quarter, but succumbed to Jake Sanders in the last two strides. Magraue forced the early pace in the deepest going, dropped back on the last turn, but came again very gamely in the stretch iu a superior effort. Lady Goodrich loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but unexpectedly failed to make any impression in the stretch. Princess Titania showed well in the early stages, but "quit and ran an exceedingly bad race, much below her true form. Scratched 00420 Corn Blossom, 101. Dargin ran sluggishly for the first half aud failed to stay. Judge retired after going a prominent half. Dorado was hopelessly outpaced and pulled up finally.
