"Jtlic Westchester Racing Association Is In tlic field with Its annual iirofTcr of stakes to be decided In the course of Its spring meetings over the magnificently appointed Belmont Park course. The events now open for the consideration of owners, which are to be run oil at Belmont Park in May and June, are twenty-three In number, all of which will close for entries at midnight of Wednesday, March 7. This year the Westchester Racing Association lias been allotted two spring meetings. The first covering dates from May 10 to 10 inclusive, and the second from May 2S to June 5 inclusive. The stakes now offered have been divided between the two meetings as follows: To be run at the first spring meeting: FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS AND OVER. The Metropolitan Handicap. 0,000 added: 1 mile. The Toboggan Handicap, ,500 added; .5-4 mile. The Harlem Selling Stakes, ,000 added; 1 mile. The New Rochelle Handicap, ,500 added; 7 1-2 furlongs. FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS. The Larphmont Stakes, .S00 added; 7-S mile. The Van Nest Selling Stakes, ,500 added; 0 1-2 furlongs. FOR TWO-YEAR-OLDS. The Maiden Stakes, ,500 added: 5-S mile. The Bouquet Selling Stakes, ,500 added; 5-8 mile. STEEPLECHASES. The New York, ,000 added; about 2 miles. Resides the foregoing, the Withers Stakes anil other important fixtures previously closed will be decided at the first spring meeting. For the second spring meeting there has been apportioned the following from the list now seeking entries: FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS AND OVER. The Cosmopolitan Handicap, ,000 added; 1 1-10 miles. The Jockey Club Weight for Age Race, ,500 added; 1 1-8 miles. The Amateur Cup. ,500 added: 1 mile. The Spring Serial Handicaps, viz.: The Crotona Handicap, ,800 added: 3-4 mile. The Claremont Handicap, ,000 added; ! 1-2 furlongs. The Van Cortlandt Handicap, ,000 added; 7-S mile. FOR THREE-YEAR-OLDS. The Bavchester Stakes, ,000 added; 1 mile. The Pocantico Stakes, ,000 added; 1 1-10 miles. FOR TWO-YEAR-OLDS. The Laureate Stakes. ,500 added: 5-S mile. The Gaiety Stakes, fillies, ,500 added; 4 1-2 furlongs. STEEPLECHASES. The Whitney Memorial, ,500 added; about 2 1-2 miles. The Grand National, ,250 added; about 2 1-2 miles. The International. ,700 added; about 2 miles. The Meadow Brook Hunters, ,200 added; about 2 1-2 miles. It will be observed that in this distribution le-tween the two meetings the rich Metropolitan Handicap retains its accustomed place as the greatest attraction of the opening day at Belmont Park, while the newly instituted Cosmopolitan Haifdicap has been assigned to the first day of the second spring meeting. Similarly, of the two highly important stakes for three-year-olds the Withers has been set for decision on the last day of the first spring meeting, while the Belmont has been made a feature of the third day ot the second. Notice is also given that supplementary entries to the Nursery Handicap, Champagne Stakes, Jerome Handicap. Municipal Handicap and Belmont Park Autumn AVelght for Age Race, all to be run at the Belmont Park autumn meeting, will close August 13, 1000. Daily Racing Form is ready to furnish entry blanks for these important events.
