Regale moved up and made a determined effort on the turn out of the backstretch while going the second time around, but tired and was eased ud in the last sixteenth. Mildred L. was hard ridden all of the last half and was closing at the end because Regale was being eased up. The others were never serious contenders. St. Tammany slipped through next to the inside rail on the far turn and saved ground on the turn for home, but was in close quarters all through the last sixteenth, or he might have won.
