DEBARS BRILLIANT RACE AT CITY PARK. Beats Garnish and St. Tammany in Rcsposs Handi-: cap Fhillips Changes Mind About Leaving. New Orleans, La., February 21. Debar, Harry Shannons Oily Park Derby candidate, showed his high class this afternoon. He conceded weight to some of the best long distance horses in training here and won the Kespess Handicap from Garnish and St. Tammany after a sinew straining struggle which lasted from the head of the stretch home. The race was the feature of the card and Secretary Murphy came in for considerable praise for his nllotinent of weights which brought the first three so close together. It is said that Irainer William Phillips of the Cook stable has changed his mind ntiout going to Hot Springs. He cooled out a bit overnight and entered Minnie Adams in the fourth race for Monday. The condition of William Wallace is unimproved. Mrs. Wallace is at his liedside. B. F. Datihc. of Chicago, has disposed of all his horses and retired. He sold Topic to a local man who will race him at Suburban Park. J. J. Mark-lein purchased the contract he held on the apprentice rider Ott. Dr. J. Grant Lyman wired Secretary Murphy thM afternoon from Oakland asking for ten stalls. He will ship his string to City Park early next week. Siss Lee speedy cut herself on Inith hind coronets. This was in a measure responsible for her failure in the mile and a half race.
