Baleshed followed Black Burn closely for a quarter, then took to flie good going on the outside and went into the lead, but had to be driven to the limit at the end to stall off Black Burn. The latter, as usual, ran out at the head of the stretch, but was coming like a flash at the finish. Salvisa made up a lot of ground from a poor beginning. Sanscrit came fast in the stretch. Lady Henrietta ran In close and game pursuit all the way and was gaining slowly at the end. Arabo made a very game finish, but could not quite reach the leaders. Curd Gillock was outclassed. Katie Powers was greatly favored by the sticky track, swung clear en the outside when entering the homestretch, pinching off Flavigny, and, finishing fast, won going away after having carried Canyon to the inside in the final sixteenth. Canyon ran- in-greatly improved form and might have won with clear sailing. Aunt-master finished fast. Paul Clifford tired after displaying the most early speed. St. Valentine was rated along by Martin to the half-mile ground, then went after Clgarlighter and Captain Bob and, racing them into subjection, won under mild restraint Cigarllghter seemed sore when going to the post, but ran a good race and stuck to his task gamely. Little Scout finished fast, but got third place by a lluke. Captain Bob ran well and had Aubtichon persevered with him the latter would have got third money. Deuxtemps had clear going all through the race, finished gamely and got the race in the final strides by sheer good luck in avoiding interference. Third Alarm ran well, but interfered witli Polly Prim on the turn for home, forcing her rider to ease her up, but she overtook him again in the stretcli rim and he then carried her from the outside to the inside.
