Maxie Witt took a forward position on the first turn and was reserved in close pursuit of the leader through the middle half, ranged alongside him when beginning the. last quarter and won out bv inches, scoring a lucky victory. Albert F., away living, made the running under a pull almost throughout and only succumbed in tlie final stride. Waterbearer moved up on the far turn into a fast goin third and ran a good race. Hera was really never dangerous and ran a comparatively poor race. Dave Lewis ran under a pull for half the journey and then retired suddenly., ORourke ran poorly throughout. Consistent, from a good start, was taken up under a pull and navef made a move until too late, but finished fast. Cressina, away badly, closed a big gap, getting up for third place in the last stride. Ballotta got away poorly and was messed about, hut going fast at the end. Novena made up ground steadily and likes a longer race. Andrla again developed superior speed for five furlongs, tiring badly in the closing drive. Frank Lord, from a flying start, set the pace on the Inside to midway of the stretch, where he was momentarily headed, but came again gamely under the whip and was easily best. Al Pr.wcll had good luck at the start and in the early running, but tried to bore out on the turns and otherwise would have won, but quit at the end. Jaunty, away well, ran in close pursuit of the leaders from the start and finished an easy third. Master Lester showed pronounced improvement and early spe;d and held on gamely in the closing struggle. Watch him from now on. Mintberia acts like a stayer and is 11 slow beginner, steadily closed up on tin; outside and was going like a shot at the end. IAinour raced with the winner to the stretch, where he tired badly. Dele Strome was well up. Haltou. nearly left, closed u big gap. Aeronaut set a terrific pace, leading by a wide gap, with a long, struggling procession behind liim for six furlongs, after which he commenced to tire, but was easily second liest today and ran a grand race. Grenade was in closest pursuit of tlie leader for six furlongs, after which he fell back, only to come again unexpectedly. Orly was tangled up at the start and, in the fast early ruuning, was interfered with on tlie first turn bv Sailor Boy, which got in his way, closed a big gap while going up the backstretch, finished well and is a good horse, but probably was not keyed up. Blennenworth maintained a good position from Uie start and made a challenge for tlie lead simultaneously with the winner, but tired right at the end. Tartan, always in forward contention, succumbed in the last quarter and was not good enough at the weights. Jennie McCabe closed up fast in the stretch. Huntington showed much speed for a mile and then retired. Oliver Cromwell ran a bad race. Contend showed speed, but failed to stay. Scratched 0301 7 Logistilla, 105; C3307 Dont Ask Me, 105.
