CONDENSED HISTORY OF THE BRIGHTON JUNIOR STAKES. The Brighton Junior does not rank among the long established fixtures of the American turf, its! first running taking place as recently as 1900. But from the outset its value was sufficient to give it respectable standing among the leading events for two-year-olds and it now ranks among those races solicitously regarded -by the owners of each successive years array of crack youngsters. In its first year it fell to James R. Keenes great colt Commando and he carried it off again in 1004 with the famous Sysonby. Once only has it fallen to the west in 1901 when T. C. McDowells fleet Allan-a-Dale triumphed over V. C. Whitneys Goldsmith and A. Belmonts Masterman. The record of, its running is as follows: Year. First. Jockeys. Wt. Second. Wt. Third. Wt. Val.
