MORE MONEY FOR PURSES AT ASCOT. "Manager J. W. Brooks has declared himself as opposed to increasing the number of stake offerings for next season at Ascot and in favor of increasing the added money offerings," says the Los Angeles News. "In this manner he believes that a strong bid can be made for the pick of the eastern horses or the winter race meeting. This plan probably will be adopted by the directors- when they make up the stake boot for next season. It should be a winner, as eastern horsemen prefer Ascot to any other winter race meeting and the added Inducement should decide them In favor of the local race course."
