TO RETIRE IVAN THE TERRIBLE. New York, August 3. W. W. Darden announces that he has decided to retire Ivan the Terrible permanently. The son of Pirate of Penzance and Kate lelletler will be placed In the stud at Mr. Munichs farm In Tennessee, near Nashville. Ivan the Terrible is not broken down, but Mr. Darden says it is not possible that he can be fitted for a hard race, and he prefers not to take chances, with him In such overnight races as he might win.
