BOOKMAKER IS BEATEN AND ROBBED. Newark, N. J.. September 8. Frederick Brower, a bookmaker at Sheepshead Bay was held up by two masked highwaymen. After beating him with the butt end of a revolver they fired two shots at him and .made off with ,731. The police later arrested a man giving the name of Samuel Jones, but who, the police say, is Samuel Temple, .convicted in 1903 for safebreaking in Easton, Pa. In his possession was a roll of bills amounting to 81,413 and a revolver.
