JtACING OFFICIALS SOAK BELLIGERENTS. Bookmakers Alvey and Stephens Are Fined ,000 Each and Debarred from .Churchill Downs. Louisville, Ky., October 0. Bookmakers Edward Alvey and Samuel Stephens, parties to the shooting affray in the betting ring at Churchill Downs yesterday afternoon, had a hearing -before the judges !tt the track today and each were fined ,000 :iud deprived of all privileges of the course dnrlnjr the remainder of the meeting. The following Is the official ruling, signed by Judges Price, Grainier and Shelley and General Manager Matt Winn: "Under the provisions of rule 195 of the American Turf "Association Kd. Alvey and Sam. Stephens are each fined ,000 and suspended from all of the privileges of this course during the remaining days of the present meeting. Each of the said parties Is prohibited from making a book, racing a horse or participating in any manner in the races during the continuance of this meeting." Alvey had entered Kohnotlaw in the second race nnl McChord and ilazelthorpe in the third race. The judges ordered that these horses be withdrawn. Alvey appeared in the local court this morning in the charge of murderous assault, but the case .was continued until Saturday next.
