ON THE ROAD TO OAKLAND. President Thomas H. Williams of the Xew California Jockey Club, was in Chicago Sunday night, en route from Xew York to San Francisco. He Is satisfied that the racing at Oakland, which begins Xovembur 17, will be in every way as enjoyable as was that which characterized the meetings prior to the disaster of last April, and has no fears that there will be any perceptible decrease iu attendance. As a matter of fact he argues that the attendance will show improvement, maintaining that the people who have been working to the straining point since the earthquake are eagerly awaiting the opportunity for relaxation which the racing will give them. Sam Hlhlreth was also in town on his way to the coast. His horses will be raced at Oakland during the winter and were shipped from New York Sunday. 1 W. Doss, headed for the same point witli the stable of Charles Heifers, passed through the city Sunday night.
