Ace High, from a flying start, helped, to force the pace, dropped back slightly on the last turn as- it beaten and. then, came again and momentarily appeared the winner in Uie stretch, but tired. Jim Leonard outpaced the others to the stretch, where he tired under pressure. Hancock was closing up well in the stretch. Black Mate, nearly left, closed-a big gap and, ran a cracking good race. Hyperbole, away very badly, made up a lot of ground. Grace George likes soft going. Wool-startle showed early .speed and retired. Incorrect walght in entries Mitre, 02. Merllngo, was never dangerous. Delphic was Inadequately handled, got away "badly and made up ground steadily, but had no chance with the ride. Johnstown seemed, unable to raise a respectable gallop. Comedian whs shut;, off at the start and closed up well afterwards. How About You ran forwardly. for five furlongs and then quit badly. Sadler, outpaced early, made up some ground in the last half, but was out of place at the weights. Guy Manneriug is promising, got away badly and was repeatedly shut off, but showed speed and will improve. Spartan, a good looker and nearly left, made up ground. Wes, again badly mossed about, choked and hauled about in an effort to place him, went up suddenly 6n the backstrctch and, being carried hopelessly wide and bumped out of his stride, could never get up, but with jockeys reversed, would have won easily. Bivouac made the running to the last turn, where she bore to the outside, carrying the other two with her, hut ran a game race. McKIttredge held a good forward position thioughout and loomed up menacingly on the last turn, but tired unexpectedly In the last sixteenth. Nemesis ran in close pursuit to the last turn, where she was shuttled back, but finished fast and was unlucky to lose second place. Palette, suddenly improved, trailed for the first six furlongs and came like a shot iu the stretch. Dazzle made the running for seven furlongs and then retired quickly after running a good race for a lniie. Economy suffered from crowding nt the start and made up a lot of ground under a. poor ride. Fire Opal is a non-stayer. Viva Voce was shuttled back at" the half but closed a gap and is promising, Waterspeed Is sure to improve. Illusion failed to stay after her usual early display of speed.
